Creative Ways To Use Reusable Shopping Bags

We can find many things to reuse in creative ways, and it can save us money at the same time. Instead of buying a new item to use, we can use something we already have and make it into something else that we need. For instance, reusable shopping bags such as OneBagAtATime do not have to be used just for shopping. Many ways that are more creative are available to use these bags. We can have fun coming up with new and exciting ideas for these bags and many other reusable items.

A shopping bag can be redesigned by using the material to make book covers, pillows, patchwork quilts and other items. A few simple steps and some sewing skills is all it will take to transform reusable shopping bags into something new. A benefit of reusing the bags is that it prevents the bags from ending up in the landfills, and we have a fabulous new item to enjoy as well.
Recycling is important to the environment, but reusing an old item can be even better when we get the benefit of saving money from not buying new items such as quilts or pillows.

Metal cans, old tires, plastic bags, packing peanuts and even old mattresses can be reused for something new and useful. Almost any item in our homes can be changed into a new creation. For instance, the mattress consists of many parts that can be taken apart and used for other things. The foam or filling can be used to stuff those pillows that were made using the shopping bags. The thread in the mattress can be used for sewing the quilts or the pillows. Every item in our homes can become valuable when a new purpose is found for the old items that we no longer want to use in their present state.

Shopping bags can be reused, but they can also be donated to others that might have a need for them. Places such as flea markets will be glad to have the old bags to use for bagging items to give to people when they purchase an item. Charities can use the bag to give away items to promote a cause, or the bags can be filled with food or other items and giving to someone in need. Therefore, shopping bags can benefit other people or organizations when you no longer have a need for the bags.

The Life Expectancy of a Reusable Shopping Bag

The average life span of a reusable shopping bag is generally dependent upon the materials used in manufacturing the bag, how often it is used and its care. However, each bag reportedly has the potential to replace approximately 700 of the plastic bags utilized by many retail outlets.

Manufacturers are finding creative ways to employ various materials to produce the eco-friendly bags used by shoppers everywhere. Some bags are made from natural materials such as left-over cotton canvas from mills or jute, while others are made from recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) beverage bottles.

PET, a plastic which can be used to produce synthetic fibers, makes a durable and biodegradable shopping bag. Each bag is capable of holding more items than a typical plastic grocery bag and does not tear easily or require doubling. According to some estimates, one recycled PET bag may keep as many as 5 plastic beverage bottles out of the landfill.

Reusable bags such as the one bag shopping bags which are made from cotton canvas are durable and can be reused many times. Like plastic bags, canvas bags are strong and can be washed numerous times, an important characteristic because bacteria tend to multiply in these bags.

The natural vegetable fiber from a plant known as
jute is another material frequently used to manufacture shopping bags. Jute, which is also called “burlap”, can be recycled and is completely biodegradable. Bags made from jute also tend to be both durable and washable.

Another factor that impacts the life span of a reusable shopping bag is frequency of use. The shopping PET bag can be reused numerous times and is known to last for several years before needing to be replaced.

With a bit of practice, it is easy to learn how to pack groceries into reusable bags in ways that extend the bags’ life spans as not all bags are created equally. Some bag styles are actually capaable of holding as many items as 5 plastic bags can without tearing or breaking.

Although most canvas shopping bags can be machine washed, some manufacturers recommend hand washing and line drying the bags to avoid damaging them. Reusable plastic shopping bags may be wiped with a sponge or washed in hot, soapy water then air-dried.

When the time comes to replace worn-out
reusable shopping bags, recycling them is relatively easy to do. Many retailers serve as drop-off locations for both reusable and disposable plastic shopping bags.

12 Black Dresses That Look Great

Women who enjoy luxury fashion understand the need to have a black dress for every occasion. The little black dress is synonymous with chic fashion, going back to the days of Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn. They are perfect to wear during evening hours for cocktail parties and date nights, but there are many other times when a black dress is appropriate, classy, and looks great. Professional women need multiple black dresses for work, a casual black dress is perfect for daytime wear, and a formal black dress works for many dressy evening occasions. 12 black dresses might be the perfect number to keep a woman dressing well regardless of where she is going.

The classic little black sheath dress is a must have for women. This look can make its way from a boardroom to cocktail hour with no problem. Variations of the black sheath come in satin, silk or velvet, so ladies should consider choosing at least one of these other varieties in addition to the classic.

A tailored black dress with longer sleeves works well for professional wear. It can be paired with a blazer and boots to create a look that is appropriate for work, but still ready for a night on the town later in the day. A black shirt dress is another style that looks good in the office.

Every woman needs a formal black dress to wear for extremely dressy evenings, such as balls, benefits, or formal weddings. Formal black dresses are often long and made from luxurious fabrics, though there are many styles to choose from. In addition to a formal black gown, women also need at least two or three cocktail dresses in black. Women should look for different details that stand out such as beading, layers of chiffon fabric, or fringe.

A casual black dress, made from cotton or another light material, is perfect for running around town in warmer weather. Women should choose at least one simple style, as it will coordinate with many other items in her wardrobe such as sandals and scarves. This is such an easy style, that still looks great, that women often choose to wear it all of the time.

Printed black dresses can work for multiple occasions, whether with polka dots, flowers, or another design. This twist on the black dress provides the same flexibility but a slightly different look. Ladies should choose at least two printed black dresses to add to their wardrobes.

Do’s and Don’ts of Shopping Abroad

Going to a foreign country provides many individuals with the opportunity to shop. Many foreign countries offer goods that other countries do not. Often, individuals can find a variety of items for much cheaper in certain places than in others. However, before shopping in a foreign country there are a few do’s and don’ts travelers should consider.

The Do’s of Foreign Shopping

1. Beware of knock-off goods. When it comes to luxury shopping, many travelers may assume that products being sold under a brand name are actually made by that brand. However, certain companies will produce off-brand goods and sell them under a name brand. Travelers should beware of products that are being sold for a very low price. If a luxury product is being sold at a substantially lower price than what it would normally be sold at, it may be a knock-off.

2. Haggle with respect. Many people enjoy luxury shopping in foreign countries due to the ability to haggle with vendors. However, when haggling for a lower price on items, travelers must respect the vendors. By respecting vendors, travelers create a pleasant relationship with the natives of the country. When travelers do not respect natives of a country, many natives may end up assuming that all travelers are rude and disrespectful.

3. Ask for recommendations from vendors. Many travelers can find hidden shopping locations by simply asking vendors or retailers for shopping recommendations.

The Don’ts of Foreign Shopping

1. Avoid haggling in regular retail stores. When a travel shops in a regular retail store and not at a market, haggling is rarely an option. While markets and vendors are popular in many foreign countries, well-known retailers are popular, as well. Haggling in popular retail shops is unnecessary. Most prices in well-known retail stores are firm and cannot be lowered.

2. Travelers should not assume that all prices are the best prices on goods. While many travelers find luxury good for a cheaper price in foreign countries, not all goods are a better price. Travelers should consider traveling with a pocket price guide when shopping.

Shopping while traveling abroad can be a memorable experience. Many countries operate in a completely different way than other countries. When shopping abroad, travelers need to remember that policies may be different. By being respectful of the policies, as well as of the citizens of the country, travelers can often find wonderful deals on a variety of goods.

What is Appropriate for a Job Interview

When it comes to clothing, what should a person wear? Well, you’re dressing to impress, aren’t you? So you do need to play the part. It sounds a bit ridiculous, especially if everyone’s dressing in business casual, but you know that with unemployment as high as it is, you want to make sure that you know you mean business.

For guys, it’s pretty easy. When you go to a job interview, your wardrobe should be nothing too complicated. A button-up shirt, a tie (usually that matches the color of the shirt or a black one), a good pair of slacks, black or brown, dress shoes and socks. When it comes to shoes, a good black pair of shoes would make a lasting impression, as long as they’re good shoes. A $12 pair from a clothing store would not only hurt your feet but also won’t make as good an impression.

For women, just a nice blouse, a pair of slacks or a skirt that’s not too short, is good, and wear dress up shoes. Do women need designer leggings? It depends. In this economy, you might want to think about them. It’s clearly understood that pinching pennies is important, but a good pair of designer leggings may make the difference between having enough confidence to land that big position and just sitting idly by as the next person gets hired. Never go in in anything see-through or sheer. This is important. You’re trying to apply for a professional position. Unless the job is calling for a stripper, you don’t want to look like one.

Confidence is almost as much of a key as the clothes you wear. Look the person in the eye. Answer all the questions directly. Although a simple “Yes” or “No” is sometimes warranted, you practically never need to go on such a long explanation that you’ll bore the interviewer. Never interrupt and let the interviewer speak. The longer you can keep them talking, the better off you’ll be in your job prospects.

The last thing to remember, in addition to looking professional is that it’s hard to not be discouraged. This is understandable. Three years have gone by where the job market has looked like it’s never going to recover and some signs are starting to show that we may be heading into another recession. The key here is to keep going. Talk with your friends and get a support base going. Go out and treat yourself to a small reward (less than $10.00) once a week and keep the fight going.

Clothes make the man (or woman) and getting the right position is clearly a numbers game. You have to go out and make that lasting impression.
